Often, after discharge from the hospital, patients do not have the opportunity to see their primary care provider on a regular basis, much of the care is provided at home sometimes by a paid caregiver or family member, much of the patient care is delivered without supervision and poses a risk for error and harm to patients.
At the completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
• Identify factors that affect safety in the ambulatory care setting
• Define the types of safety concerns in ambulatory care
• Explain measure to improve patient safety and prevent harm in the ambulatory care area.
